What's included
The first flight is know as a Trial Lesson, and it provides an excellent oppertunity to sample the delights of gliding.
This flight will last for approximately 20 minutes dependant on weather conditions on the day.
Trial Lessons are generally booked in advance. On arrival, the new pilot will be given a briefing by their instructor, which usually takes place near the glider. Then it’s time to get strapped in and ready for the launch. The glider launches, and at 2000 feet the instructor will switch off the engine and the glider will be flying freely and silently on it’s own.
The instructor will then demonstrate how the controls fly the aircraft. If they wish, the new pilot can then take over and enjoy all the fun and freedom of flying. As the aircraft descends, the instructor will take over and gently bring the glider back in to land. This flight may be a ‘once in a lifetime thrill’ or perhaps a step towards flying solo and beyond; either way, we are here to help.
